The Team

Melissa Broese

Melissa graduated from York University with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences with a focus in geriatric care. She worked in the field of physical therapy and rehabilitation for seniors, with a specialization in the treatment and prevention of metabolic syndromes through both dietary and physical interventions.

She focused research on insulin-sensitive cellular transporters, and its up-regulation with routine exercise to potentially augment future outcomes in patients suffering from Type II diabetes. After discovering that the primary barrier to mobility and maintenance of metabolic diseases is due to both physical and neuropathic pain, Melissa entered the Podiatric Medicine program out of the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences in Toronto, to further her studies.

She has been working as a primary care practitioner for nearly 10 years. Although she has a passion for both diabetic and geriatric care, she see’s patients through all walks of life, from sports injuries to wound/ulcer care.
